Double Champ and a Precious Cause....

Please read about Destiny's Hope...
It is time for Winterfest in dance and cheer competition. My Ashlea's Jr. Prep squad took first place in both their jazz and pom divisions yesterday. The Winterfest was held in the Lexington Center, just below Rupp arena. The Wildcats and the Indiana Hoosiers were playing at the exact time we danced.
I'm just sharing a few snapshots this morning before be begin our trek back home. There is a huge winter storm brewing and hopefully we make it before the brunt of it hits.

This is Gran and Ashlea just after awards. My Gran looks so wonderful and she feels it too!

Where has the last ten years gone? I can't believe she has grown so quickly, but ohhhhh how proud I am of the beautiful young lady she is becoming! Notice her purple medals around her neck in this one! Yay...

Ashlea is the center girl up front in this one. This is the jazz dance. If you will notice, she and the other dancers are wearing those pink band bracelets. If you have been following me since the summer, you will remember that Ashlea's dance partner, Destiny Brewer, was killed by a drunk driver. Destiny's family, friends, and the team have formed Destiny's Hope. We are lobbying for a new law (much more stiff) on those who choose to drink and drive. The man who took little Destiny's life had been arrested more than three times on DUI and was driving with a suspended license. For more information on how you can help, please visit Destiny's Hope.

Check out little miss sass!!! This dance is very sassy and just perfect for her! :)

This is our pom routine, she is the second over from the left int he back.

Now, I know you can't see her face in this one, she is the girl doing the toe touch in the back. Check out her straight legs!!!!

This looks like a future Wildcat cheerleader......
I hope you all have a great Sunday!

Sisterhood Social and a tragedy

Good Morning,
Today is a new challenge up at The Sisterhood! My dear friend, Teri, is hosting this week's Sisterhood Social. Teri wants to see your book or movie inspiration. This was an easy one for me, who doesn't love The Scarlet Letter?

I helped my Megan (now 21) create this for a project her senior year in high school. She created two summarized tags for each chapter of the book. We had so much fun working on this book together.
What is your favorite book or movie? Will it inspire you to create a project? If so, please share it with us at The Sisterhood!
Check out the inspiration my sistahs have for you, while there, be sure to leave them some love!

Today I also have some tragic news to share. For those of you who regularly follow my blog, you know my youngest niece, Ashela (10) dances with a competition squad. This photo shows her (in the back) and her little friend, Destiny (front) at the Spring Recital in May of this year.
Destiny was at the pool swimming on Friday. Her Grandmother was driving her, her friend, and older sister home from the pool. A 26 year old male, driving under the influence, hit their suv head on. Destiny was flown to a hospital in West Virgina, she had some surgery to her brain and fought so hard to live. After having a section of her brain removed, she was only given a 10% chance to live. Destiny died yesterday morning. Her grandmother is still fighting for her life. Her sister and friend escaped with minor injury. Destiny was only 10 years old, a very talented dancer, and a beautiful little girl. Please pray for her family, her friends, her community, and my little Ashlea, as we all grieve the loss of this precious child.

Ashlea's Dance Comp....

Good Morning,
Well, my post today is just the fair, nothing creative. My little niece Ashlea's competition was yesterday and I promised some photos...
They danced to a Magic Mix and it was a darling routine. Ashlea is the girl in the center of this photo (standing in front of the i in championships).

She is playing a little puppet master here. Again she's the one in the back.

This one is at the end of the the routine. She's the one being lifted on the left. Doesn't it look like they had so much fun? This was their first competition of the season and they were all so worried and nervous.

I really don't know why they were nervous....they won FIRST PLACE in their division!

I loved this one! She had just come from the stage and I had the camera ready to capture her excitement and relief that it was over!
I hope you all have a Blessed day! I'll have some more creative things tomorrow as I'm traveling back home today and have lesson plans to do when I'm home.
Blessings,
