Give Thanks

I hope that you all had a very blessed Thanksgiving with your families! I know that we enjoyed the day with both of our families. There is so much to be thankful for this year. I'm sitting in the waiting area at the hospital as I write this. My Gran is in pre op. Please pray for her.

very simple, but wanted everyone in my family to write one thing that they're thankful for. This will then make it's way to a layout with snapshots from our family dinner.

Just a quick post this morning, I have a layout that was published in the Better Scrap Brads and Bytes newsletter last week. We created a layout about us from when we were babies or little. I chose to do one of the last summer I spent with my Grandpa. This was the summer of 1978.

Yep, that would be me with my arms all around him. He and my Granny were just 52 in this photo. My Grandpa passed away the very next year. This photo and memory of that day is so special to me. The other little cutie pie in there is my middle sis, Teresa.

Our challenge also included using text from a magazine in a title. Don't you love the "Togetherness" title that was cut from a Scrapbooking and Beyond magazine.

Hello and some family fun....

Today I'm sharing a card that was made from just scraps of my September Lucky Girl kit. Isn't this so lovely?

Thanks to you all for your thoughts and prayers for my Jon-Christopher. It appears he was hit hard with a nasty stomach virus. The ER doc. did say his white cell count was over 22, 000. He kept a 100.1 temp. for most of Sunday, slept most of the day too. When he awoke, he was back to himself, ready to fun outside and enjoy the evening. Here are just a few fun photos of our Sunday evening together.....

Look at Jon-Christopher driving the golf cart. Check out that "so serious" expression on his face. Trust me, he is 6 and can drive it anywhere around the yard he wants to.

Hunter takes his turn driving the golf cart around....I'm going to star calling my sister "Miss Daisy". She will let them drive her all around, she is just as patient as can be....Now remember my two little nephews are just 6!

When we are all together at the lake, we love to spend the early evening hours playing corn hole. Notice we have two adult games going and look at Ashlea's little board. My bil made a kids size set for her and Jon-Christopher. Notice the beautiful glow of the sunset behind my family as it is cast over the lake.

In another game, my mom and I were playing Ashlea and my sister....sad to say that a 1o year old beat me! I still don't have the hang of this game. Basketball is so much easier!

Another family fave of ours is the big bonfire....

Ashlea loves roasting marshmallows!! What a face! Now here is a scrapping moment!!!

What happens to a little 6 year old boy who spends half the night in an ER? He sleeps all day, fighting a fever, and when it finally breaks....he finds his cousin and plays xbox! Hunter is the one in blue and Jon-Christopher is in the white.

A day on the lake....

I'm sharing a few photos of our day on the lake yesterday. This first one is little miss "tween" Ashlea, in the bikini and ponytail with her cousin, Jenna.

Here is my brother-in-law and the little man navigating down the lake. Notice who is driving....he's 5 going on 16.

This is just a shot back through the boat as we were enjoying a lazy day.

Happy Wednesday!

Today brings about a new challenge at The Sisterhood. Our fabby sister, Tanis, is hosting this week. Our challenge is to "Celebrate the Month" Tanny chose her favorite stone for this one, ,the emerald, which is the birthstone for May. And here is my card. This is my brother Jarrod and his finance, Erica. They are planning to be married in September this year. This is one of their engagement photos. I know, they don't look happy, but that is the look the photographer was going for....
Believe it or not, this is the closest thing I had to emerald and no emerald bling! Oh my....

I embossed my card with the stylized flowers template, sanded, inked up the template and ran the white cardstock through. I so love that look! The ribbon is a tad bit more emerald. I tied on a little wedding ring set charm for the perfect finishing touch!

Hunter's party pix

I'm traveling with the little kids back to Kentucky today. We've had a fantastic weekend! The weather for Hunter's party was beautiful.

This one is Hunkie, Ashlea, and his little cousin enjoying some ice cream and cake!

Hunkie got this really "awesome" water balloon launcher. He and Jon-Christopher can't wait for summer to try this out!

How has your week been going? Hopefully, you're having a good one! Mine is about to get better! I'm leaving with my family after school today to drive down to our home on the lake in Tennessee. We're meeting up with the family that lives there and on our way to Myrtle Beach for a long weekend. My little Ashlea has a dance comp. there on Sunday. I am so looking forward to the break, the beach, the time to relax. I'll have my laptop and be checking in from time to time!

Today, I'm sharing a layout that will go in the album I shared on Monday for my Practical Scrappers project. Here it is in case you missed it. Here's the layout. All the papers are Making Memories. The stamps are Autumn Leaves, and the butterfly was just in my stash with the bling and the ribbon. The inks are CTMH. This photo is from summer 2007. Ben and Gran were posing for me at a rest stop on our way to Tybee Island. They're both big hams for the camera, heck the whole family is!

Penny has a new challenge up this week at Penny's Challenges. This go around we want to see some birthday projects. I made a mini tag album to celebrate the love I have for my middle sister, Teresa. All of the paper used in this book is Chatterbox. The ribbon, buttons, and brads, and clips are all stash. The flowers are Prima. You can tell I really let loose on the distressing inks, you all know I love to ink. The stamps are from CTMH.

Mamaw's Favorites....

Today I'm sharing a project that is a few years old, but so close to my heart. Being a southern girl, we all call my Gran "Mamaw (Mam-aw), tell them Fern, it is the best name, next to Mom that southern woman can have. Anyways, my Gran is 83 and a few years ago, she and I sat down and I had her use her own handwriting to record some of her favorite recipes that she hopes the family will continue for many generations.

I really distressed the SEI papers with my inks and added charms, lots or ribbons, and other embellies. This is a cherished keepsake for many generations to come!

I challenge you to create a project that you know will be cherished for generations. If you have already done so, I'd love to hear about or see it, leave me a link!

Today is a new challenge over at Practical Scrappers. Thanks to you all who played last week! I always love to see just how creative you can be with each challenge and I love the inspiration I always receive from you! On to our new challenge, this week, we want to see you using flowers.
We're going to pick three winners - the most creative use of flowers, the project that uses the most flowers (leave us a comment so we know), and again our favorite project! We will also be picking one winner randomly generated to get some bling from Glitz Design.
I used this sketch from my incredibly talented dt sister at PS, Heidi. I love this sketch and it worked perfectly for what I wanted in this layout.

Love at First Sight!

Good Morning,

First, I want to thank you all for your thoughts, prayers, and well wishes for my Aunt and my family. Here is the update I received just before bed last night. She was still alert, the color was back in her complexion (Gran said she was "pale as a ghost" when she first saw her), she appears to be her normal self. She was moved from the individual ER room into a private room. The initial reports from her scan conclude it was a mini stroke. She is expected to make a complete and full recovery, Praise God!!! Again, thank you all for your prayers!

Today, I used this sketch from Card Patterns

to make this card for my little "love monkey", Jon-Christopher. I still love this Animal Cookies paper and this card just fell in place using this sketch. Everything is CTMH. Have a great day!

Sad News, Please Pray....

I'm sorry I've been missing from the boards. My Great Aunt has had a storke. She
had one back in 84 and is so strong willed! My 83 year old Gran was on the phone
with her when she had it or was having it. She lives about an hour away. They had lost a sister
in March. My Gran is so worried about her pulling through this one (when she
called her, she could tell as soon as she tried to answer the phone, that she
was very sick so she called 911). The doctors are not sure how long it had been
since she had the storke. Praise God, she is alert and knows everyone who is
there with her. My mom said she had eaten and was carring on conversation with
everyone. So, I'm just praying that all tests will be positive and that it was a
mini stroke or maybe not even a stoke at all.
Just please keep her and my family in your prayers as the next few days pass, as
you know they are the most critical for stroke victims.

Cherish...

Good Thursday Morning,
My Honyebee and I were talking about my Little Man, Jon-Christoper, last night. I can't believe he is already 5 and in Kindergarten. He had his first field trip this week at school. Oh, the excitement! So, I pulled his baby album out and went through it for a while, just remembering. I came across this beautiful layout and decided to share it with you this morning. I created this about four years ago and really couldn't begin to tell you whose products these are. I will tell the quick history of this gown. This is the day he came home from the hospital. My 29 year old brother received this gown in a set at his birth. To date, there have been four other little ones in my family wear this gown home. It is a tradition now. That is another thing to remember. My baby brother weighed 6 pounds 8ounces. He wore this gown, and is now 6 foot 3, 220, SOLID muscle. This reminds me of the song "Let Them Be Little". I wish I could just freeze time.

I Remember You...

I am sharing something this afternoon that is very precious to me. If I have previously posted any part of this, I'm sorry for posting again. This is a mini album I made a couple of years ago in memory of my Papaw (Grandpa), Quinton Tolliver. This past July marked 30 years with out him. I was only nine when he passed away, but he is still so very alive in my heart. There isn't a day that goes by without my thinking of him and wondering what he would be like as an "older man". You see, he was only 52 at the time of his death. I just wanted to share this little treasure with you today. The cover is a photo of my Granny, who is 83 and you've seen her pic on here before, and Papaw when they were newlyweds.

This is a peek at the inside. This photo was taken in 1956 and my Auntie was just three here.

This just shows all the yummy ribbons I used in the book.

Another side view. I used alpha clips from Hobby Lobby to spell Papaw down the side.

Since I made it a few years ago I only remember the book came from 7 Gypsies, some of the paper was Diane's Daughters and the flowers were from Prima. I really don't recall the rest, so we'll just call it "stash". I hope you've been inspired to create a mini album in memory or honor of someone.
