Picture This....

Have you ladies been over to the new challenge blog, Picture This!?  I found it while I was enjoying a lazy day and getting my scrappy inspiration back. Their first challenge is 1 photo+sunburst+paint. Here is what I created. Not sure I'm loving the final look....probably gonna be a redo.... 

 This paper came in a pack from Paper Studio and I really liked the look of the base page. I used some paint and ink to create the sunburst and the mat for the photo. I just had to use this lovely black and pearl flower that I had been hoarding for this photo of my oldest niece's wedding day. 

 And who can do wedding....without pearls? 

 I love this washi from CTMH....so shimmery and perfect for wedding layouts.

Opposites Attract.....

After a grueling last month of school, stress, stress, and more STRESS....I am finally back at it!!!! This week our challenge at Lasting Memories is to make a layout featuring 'opposites attract'. I choose to use two different shapes in my double page layout. I used curves and straight edges. I also used flowers and pinwheels. 

Can't wait to see your take on this challenge!

My Day.....

 I have had such a busy week at school this week preparing for state assessments, that I didn't have any time to create at all.... :(  Stressful week.... So this morning, I got right to it and already feel some relaxation setting in! I created this layout of my beautiful Megan's wedding album. I challenged myself to use the card sketch from my last post to do a layout. Love how it came out. 

 I used some of the new For Always fabrics and rolled these flowers. Oh, there are so many ways to create using that wonderful fabric.

Recipe: All papers and fabrics are For Always, black ink, bling-Prima, Thickers alphas, and I used the Elegant Edges cartridge for the cuts.

I have another wedding layout this morning. Our challenge at Lasting Memories this week is to use up your stash! I have had this bling and the Bride title for a VERY long time......Who am I kidding, I am such a hoarder when it comes to my stash! wink, wink......

I think this is funny how the sun shining on the first layout made it appear a lighter shade of grey paper. I promise the base papers are the same color. 

I simply love how I cut the photo on the second photo.

I'm Ready Daddy.....

Today, I share the second page of my 2 page layout that was inspired by the new sketch over at Sketchabilities.

I wanted this one to match that lovely elegant first page, so I just flipped the sketch to mirror it.....Love how this double layout came out. I just hope my girl loves her book!

Today I am sharing a layout that I was inspired to do using the current Sketchabilities sketch.

I am working on my oldest niece, Megan's, wedding from this past May. This layout is so dear to my heart. Megan's mother passed the day before she turned 7.  She is actually my first cousin, but when this tragedy struck my family, my sister and Grandmother raised her, hence I call her niece. She is about to turn 24. This day was so emotional for us. This was the kiss her daddy gave to her when seeing her for the first time.

Better Scrap Reaval 4....

Today is Challenge #4 at Betterscrap....

Search your stash for sheets or scraps of paper that aren’t your favorites and that you might not reach for first, and use them on a layout!

Chose at least 2 of the following:
1. Use a 12×12 sheet of “ugly” paper as your layout background.
2. Use at least 3 scraps of “ugly” paper somewhere on the page where they can be seen.
3. Use 2 4×6 photos, any orientation.
4. Use “stitching” somewhere on the page. It can be actual sewn stitches, or your stitches can be hand drawn, created with a template, or stamped.
5. Use color mist (such as Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, or a homemade ink or paint mist) anywhere on your page

Here is my ugly paper layout.

The ugly paper challenge inspired me to create this layout for my oldest niece, Megan. I would have never used this background paper if not for this challenge. When I went through my scrap stash and put it all together, I love the way this turned out!

I used #1 to find a piece of “ugly” 12 x 12 background cardstock, #2 to use 3 scraps of “ugly” paper, and #3 use two 4X6 photos.

Supplies: papers are Making Memories, Colorbok, and Fancy Pants. Crate Paper chipboard, Close to My Heart inks, bling from Recollections, and flowers from Prima

My Joys...

Good Morning,
I'm working as hard as I can to get my classroom ready. I've been mia for a few days and my sweet blogging bff, Dawn, asked about me....I've gone from the Civil War bedroom to the thrid grade classroom. Can you believe it is back to school time already? Teachers return to school "offically" on Aug. 5 and students first day is Aug. 9....

Today is Thursday and that means a new reveal at Sketches in Thyme.

Happy Birthday Megan!

Good Afternoon,

Today I am wishing my very beautiful, oldest niece, Megan, a Happy Birthday. She turns 21 today!

Megan, I'm so very proud of the incredible young woman you have become. I love you more than you'll ever know!

I'll be back later this evening with a Practical Scrappers sketch layout. Right now, I have an entire orchard to spray....Oh, I'll be sharing some photos from there too. You all would not believe how the fruit is growing right now.

This post is coming to you as I prepare to leave Myrtle Beach. Ashlea's Junior Prep Elite team won National Champion in Jazz, Pom, and Hip Hop! She is so excited! After the competition, we took a trip down to the beach to take some photos. I just wanted to share this one. I got lots of beautiful ones, you'll see them in layouts very soon!!!! This is Ashlea, Megan, and Jon-Christopher. Oh how I love these kiddos!

This on is of my little Hunter. He went to the beach for photos before the other kids did. He said the wind was just too cold for him.... Now on to the Practical Scrappers challenge this week! We are asking you to pull out your rub-ons and get creative! I opted for no patterned paper. I used CTMH cardstock and a full sheet of Fancy Pants rub-ons to make this page. It may be difficult to tell, but I put some diamond stickles in the center of the flower rub-ons.

My Frosted Wish...

I hope this is finding you all with the same beautiful weather that I'm having in Kentucky today! It is sunny and warm! Frosted Designs is having a "Bling It On" challenge. I love bling!
