Sketches in Thyme....

I promise that I'm still here.....we have been buried in snow, snow, ice, and more snow. I've been spending my days digging out....and spending some quality time with my Honeybee and my family. I'll post some photos of our snow since December 3 a little later today.
I'm going to finish getting the Christmas decorations down and the house all tidy again. Then the remainder of the day is going to be spent in my scraproom....I can't wait!

Just a reminder that we have a new sketch up at Sketches in Thyme today....
This is a Jana Eubank sketch and I LOVE it!!!!

Our sponsor this month is Lucky Girl Craft Kits....

OMG, check out the January 2011 Forever Love kit!
Hop on over today to check it out!!!!!

Merry Christmas!!!!

Merry Christmas to you all!!!! I have had an incredibly busy week, as I'm sure many of you have experienced too! Just a quick note to wish you all the most blessed day! I hope Santa is good to you this year! He's been especially kind to me! I love you, Santa!!

I also forgot to post my Frosted Designs layout yesterday. This week our challenge is a holiday song. I had this sassy photo of Ashlea walking in last year's snow.

The photo didn't capture the title very well. I used some velvet covered thickers and it is just yummy irl. These papers are last year's Bo Bunny A Gift of Love.....I thought they were just so pretty. Be sure to check out what the rest of the Frosted ladies have to share with you.
Again, wishing you all the most glorious day!
Merry Christmas!

Let it snow.....

This is the very last of my Christmas cards. I can't recall where I picked up this adorable snowman. He was a freebie from somewhere on a great digi blog, if anyone knows the artist, please let m know so I can give her credit!

I just love how this one came out! Be warm and safe today!!!!

Holly and Jolly...

OMG, more snow this morning, enough already! The temps aren't getting above freezing and there is no let up in sight. Oh well, I guess it will be a white Christmas after all!
I have two very clean and simple cards to share this morning. I did remember to get pix before they went into the mail... :)

Both cards feature the Jolly Holly papers and rub-ons from Stampin Up!. I also had to use this yummy old olive striped grosgrain ribbon.
I am so loving this paper and I'm using up all the little bits and pieces for cards, love it!
I hope you have a great Saturday, and stay warm!!!

Practical Gift Idea and a Sketch....

Today is a new sketch reveal over at Sketches in Thyme! Hop on over to see this week's Guest Designers and the lovely Mavens, as they have some incredible inspiration for this Jana Eubank sketch.

As you are crossing off the last few names on your list, here is a quick yet fabulous gift idea to share, an altered planner. We all need a planner of some sort to keep up with our daily schedules. If you have someone on your list that never goes far without a planner, then this little gem is perfect for you.

First, you need to buy a planner, I picked this one up at the dollar store for $2. Then I matched the supplies and style of it to the friend I'm gifting. She is all victorian and I wanted this planner to reflect her beautiful spirit.

Next, I measured, cut, and inked up the paper for the cover.

I also used a little bookplate along with the year as an embellishment for the year.

Other embellishments I added included a tag with a quote just perfect for her, you really can't have vintage victorian without the addition of pearls, roses, and ribbons.

Once you see how easy these are to create and personalize, you'll enjoy creating for all your friends and family!
If you have some practical girt ideas, please share them with us at
practicalscrappersideas@gmail.com, we'd love to hear from you!

Joy....

Today is my December Recipe reveal over at The Moments. I'm calling it "Party Mix". Here is the yummy recipe:

Are you ready for our December recipe challenge? This one is festive and ready to party, here are the ingredients you'll need:

1 cup of something to celebrate (My wedding, which was a Christmas one)
A handful of pearls (flourish and in poinsettias)
A dash of some dimensional liquid (Liquid glass, Dimensional Magic)

Mix all ingredients accordingly, embellish as you please, sprinkle with a little love and share with your scrappy friends!
Serves: a lifetime of memories

Here's a peek at my dish....

I used one sheet of SU! paper from the Deck the Halls stack. The little holly berries are covered with the dimensional magic. I also highlighted the leaves and pine with just a smidgen of stickles.
Then the pearls went in the poinsettias and of course I had to add the flourish.

Here is a peek at what the holly berries look like with the dimensional magic. I just love the effect.

So, what are you waiting for, I know you'll love the Party Mix and want to share your layout or project with us! Please visit, The Moments today for lots of great challenges, scrappy friendships, and tons of inspiration!

Merry Christmas...

Here is a very simple card that I made using just scraps of my Warm Winter Wishes Lucky Girl kit.
I think it is just cute as can be. Those little peppermint rubons fit just perfectly in the little metal frame. I hope that you are all toasty and warm this morning.

Season of Magic

Anyone else covered up with snow this morning? We are getting a heavy snow storm pass through today with 12 inches expected when the snow ends. Then more moving in mid week. It looks like we may be having a White Christmas!

I'm sharing a card I made last week. I used the new Jolly Holiday papers from Stampin'Up!
I used a really old SU! stamp that I have, Magic & Wonder. I used all SU! inks on here. I used a curly font on my computer to print the sentiment. Of course, I had to add just a touch of sparkle to it. The ribbon is Very Vanilla from SU!
I hope that you are safe and warm today!

Double Champ and a Precious Cause....

Please read about Destiny's Hope...
It is time for Winterfest in dance and cheer competition. My Ashlea's Jr. Prep squad took first place in both their jazz and pom divisions yesterday. The Winterfest was held in the Lexington Center, just below Rupp arena. The Wildcats and the Indiana Hoosiers were playing at the exact time we danced.
I'm just sharing a few snapshots this morning before be begin our trek back home. There is a huge winter storm brewing and hopefully we make it before the brunt of it hits.

This is Gran and Ashlea just after awards. My Gran looks so wonderful and she feels it too!

Where has the last ten years gone? I can't believe she has grown so quickly, but ohhhhh how proud I am of the beautiful young lady she is becoming! Notice her purple medals around her neck in this one! Yay...

Ashlea is the center girl up front in this one. This is the jazz dance. If you will notice, she and the other dancers are wearing those pink band bracelets. If you have been following me since the summer, you will remember that Ashlea's dance partner, Destiny Brewer, was killed by a drunk driver. Destiny's family, friends, and the team have formed Destiny's Hope. We are lobbying for a new law (much more stiff) on those who choose to drink and drive. The man who took little Destiny's life had been arrested more than three times on DUI and was driving with a suspended license. For more information on how you can help, please visit Destiny's Hope.

Check out little miss sass!!! This dance is very sassy and just perfect for her! :)

This is our pom routine, she is the second over from the left int he back.

Now, I know you can't see her face in this one, she is the girl doing the toe touch in the back. Check out her straight legs!!!!

This looks like a future Wildcat cheerleader......
I hope you all have a great Sunday!

We have a new challenge up at Frosted Designs this morning and look who is sponsoring us this week!

The winner of this week's challenge will receive 3 sets of her choice of digi images. These are simply amazing!
We want to see you use some ribbon on your projects this week. I decided that I would create a Snowman Soup gift for my bff's little girl.

The ribbon at the top of this jar was white, I inked it to match the background paper I used, which by the way is Cutting Cafe. The little poem is one of the images in this set too! I used a different piece of ribbon to attach it to the jar.

Look at this frosty little guy....

He and the Snowman Soup were also part of this set of digis. I used some stickles to add the sparkle to his hat and snowflakes. I added just a bit to the letters in "soup" but it is difficult to see in this photo.

This is the top of the lid....

This snowflake was yet one more in the set, and it was already colored!!!! I just punched it out and added a bit of sparkle.
As I said, this is going to be a part of my gift set for my bff's DD. I'm looking for a darling snowman shaped mug to a accompany it, filled with some candy canes (to stir the soup) and her little bits of "diva stash" (nail polish, lip gloss, and jewelry from Justice).
I'm quite certain that this will be a huge hit with her.

Now show us your creative uses for ribbon and you could win some of these fabby images too!

Merry and Bright

I have another quick card to share this morning. This one was inspired by the Tuesday Takes sketch at Sketches in Thyme. We chose a cardabilities sketch for this week.

Here is what I came up with....

I used all Stampin'Up! on this one. The paper pack is Jolly Holiday, the cardstock is Real Red, and the rub-on is from the Holly & Jolly pack. Don't you love the olive ribbon? I'm such a sucker for fabby ribbon.
You still have time to join in the Tuesday Takes #3 challenge at Sketches in Thyme this week.

Snow friends....

Here is a quick and simple card that I totally lifted from my DT sister at The Moments, Marisol. Her current challenge is to create a Frosty the Snowman card.
I so love these little circle snowmen!!! I stamped the snowflakes in silver ink and added just a hit of glitter to them.

I also added some to the snowman. It was really difficult to get a photo that would show just how cute he looked. I'm very pleased with how he came out!
If you haven't been to The Moments yet, what are you waiting for? We have new challenges posted on the first and fifteenth of the month. Head on over to check it out today!
