Playing along at Sketches in Thyme!

Happy Monday! I am so excited to have  some time this weekend to play in my room! I got some PL swaps all finished up and packaged and I got to create this super fun Halloween page with a photo from 2008!!!
I used all Nevermore papers on this one along with the number 9 key on the Artiste cartridge. Scattered some silver sequins and some complements and this one is finished!
I really enjoyed using Bev Code's Sketch #169 over at Sketches in Thyme....
Hop on over and play along with us this month!

Today was the best!

I love this photo of my my little man (nephew) and my Daddy! Jon-Christopher heads south to Tennessee as soon as All Stars is over. He then spends the remainder of his summer with Mom and Dad at the lake. He trades is glove, ball, and bat in for a rod, reel, and pontoon! This is how my retired Daddy and little man spend their time, 9-5 (and all day). The challenge at Heart 2 Heart is Working 9-5.  I pulled out my Jackson papers for this one.....
and was inspired to create this layout using Sketch #162 by Brenda Ragsdale at Sketches in Thyme!
Thanks for coming by today!

Sketch #138

Are you ready for this sketch over at Sketches in Thyme by Rochelle Spears
Don't you just love all the layers in this sketch? I know I sure do!
I played with multiple flowers and love it! Also added some bead and jute trim under the photo.
The title is simply, "Hadley". This photo was taken just after the nurses had cleaned up and returned her to her Mommy.
Here is the layout. I love how this one came together!
Bramble Rose MME papers, Prima flowers and trim.
If you love playing with sketches, go on over to SIT and play along!

Sketch 137...

Happy New Year!!!! I'm up today at Sketches in Thyme with this fab sketch by, Bev Code.
This also fits the challenge over at Lasting Memories for Life's Simple Pleasures.....
This is the end result of me "playing" with ink.....
I challenged myself to only use ink and a bit of glitter behind the photos. I used Watermelon CTMH ink on kraft paper. Then I had to add a bit of glitter glue to make it shine....
Stamped my title using the Circus alphas....
Finished it off with some Smoothie Washi, staples, and bling.....

If you are not a follower at Sketches in Thyme, hop over and check us out, play along, and scrap at least one page every day in 2015!

Sketch #131

My reveal day at Sketches in Thyme! Today, I chose to put my own little shabby spin on our current sketch. I created this layout for my Hadley's book. This captures the very first time my brother and sister-in-law first saw Miss Hadley!
I stamped the title....love how it came out....looks better in person.
Can't have shabby without a doily....Hidden journal tag pulls out there.
and here is our current sketch. Hop on over to Sketches in Thyme....awesome sponsors this month!!!!

Sketches in Thyme #130

Hello Tuesday! It is my day to reveal at Sketches in Thyme and our last reveal for this month. I am so loving this album I'm putting together for my baby niece, Hadley. Here is one more of her and my Daddy, (her Poppie). She loves all of us, but she is Pop's girl.
I kept to the sketch....simply because I love it just as it is!
A little bling and ink = one happy girl....ME!!!
Since it is a companion page to this one, I used an overlay as my little title.
Bramble Rose MME papers, The Paper Studio doily, Prima flowers and bing, Offray lace ribbon, Gathered Twigs Ranger distress ink, and Making Memories overlay.
I hope you decide to join us for this last week of September at Sketches in Thyme, you still have time to get your two layouts in for our yummy prize!

If you have come here from Wendi's blog, you are in the right place on the hop!!! Just remember to go back to Sketches in Thyme and leave a comment about what inspired you most on the hop.

It's September 1, and that means the reveal is here for Sketches in Thyme #129....
The talented, Bev Code, created this lovely sketch....
I decided to do a layout with photos I took of Ashlea at the end of junior high this May. I love these photos and was waiting for just the right inspiration. Bev's sketch was it!!!!
Recipe: CTMH~Clair Workshop on the go, wooden mini medley, and sorbet fibers twine. I used Ranger Distress Ink in Walnut, the flower, muslin, and burlap ribbon are from Recollections. Icut the little twisty curls from the Cricut Artiste. The rub-ons were just in my old stash.

Check out the prize that one very lucky participant from September will win!!!!
HUGE CTMH prize pack. To be eligible to win, all you have to do is follow Sketches in Thyme and enter a layout for both sketches by September 30!
If you haven't been on the blog hop yet, please begin at Sketches in Thyme and have fun as you are sure to be inspired by these fabulously talented Mavens.

Practical Gift Idea and a Sketch....

Today is a new sketch reveal over at Sketches in Thyme! Hop on over to see this week's Guest Designers and the lovely Mavens, as they have some incredible inspiration for this Jana Eubank sketch.

As you are crossing off the last few names on your list, here is a quick yet fabulous gift idea to share, an altered planner. We all need a planner of some sort to keep up with our daily schedules. If you have someone on your list that never goes far without a planner, then this little gem is perfect for you.

First, you need to buy a planner, I picked this one up at the dollar store for $2. Then I matched the supplies and style of it to the friend I'm gifting. She is all victorian and I wanted this planner to reflect her beautiful spirit.

Next, I measured, cut, and inked up the paper for the cover.

I also used a little bookplate along with the year as an embellishment for the year.

Other embellishments I added included a tag with a quote just perfect for her, you really can't have vintage victorian without the addition of pearls, roses, and ribbons.

Once you see how easy these are to create and personalize, you'll enjoy creating for all your friends and family!
If you have some practical girt ideas, please share them with us at
practicalscrappersideas@gmail.com, we'd love to hear from you!
Blessings,
