Suggestions Welcome....

Good Morning,
My mom is home and resting comfortably! She is so relieved to finally have this over!!!! Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers, and well wishes....hugs and love to you!!!!

Now that we're home, I can tackle some much needed cleaning and organizing in my scraproom! I am sharing my current storage for scrap papers. This isn't working for me. I have to find an easier way to store these little bits of gold.

One folder is for solid and the other is for my patterned paper scraps. What works in your space? Please share any suggestions you have with me, all are greatly appreciated, or send a link to a photo or video if you have one!
Blessings,

  1. I use to file mine to, but it got to the point that it was a pain to pull out. I bought a work cube cart from Michaels and the top drawer is scrap paper. It sits right next to my big desk, so I use it all the time. Haven't run out of room yet!

  2. Okay so you know I hoard everything. Well I have several cereal boxes and food boxes that are roughly the same size. I was going to cut them part way down the spine making them like magazine holders. Then I was going to cover them with my scrap bounty. One box would be covered in pink scraps and hold pink toned scraped, one would be holidays, and so on and so forth. But as of now I just have them the same way. I have printed scraps in two paper folders (scrap caddy's at M's). One holds large printed scraps and the other holds small printed scraps.

  4. Glad mom is home. As for the scraps, I have mine in large ziploc bags within the CTMH large (12 X 12) which I keep all papers in. Eg each solid color has its own bag, with a ziploc of the scraps inside and all my Pattern Paper kits are in the bags with ziplocs inside. Make sense?

  5. So glad to hear that Mom is home and able to rest and take care of herself!!!

As for scraps...I too keep them in a folder just as you do.....cardstock in one and pp's in the other!!! I go through them and weed them out...because those folders grow quickly!!!

Have a great day sweet friend!!!

  6. Hi Kim,

I have given up trying, I donate them to my daughters school, that way I know the kids can play with them. It allows me to justify buying more paper too :)

  7. I am glad everything is going better!

I have a basket for scraps. I found it at Michael's, and it's perfect. It's 14" long and about 5" wide. It sits nicely on my desk, so I look through there before cutting a full sheet of paper. I have saved a lot of paper that way. I put patterned scraps back in the bag with the matching paper in my cropper hopper. If I'm at the end of the line, I've got at plasitc Ramanoff box where patterned scraps go. I use that box of scraps for my OWH cards.

  8. Glad you mom is home and doing well. As for organizing, I also have a plastic bin right next to my scrap table. It works for me. When it get too full I start donating it to Natalie's Day Care.

  9. my scraps are stored in big ziploc bags too, but i separate just a little more for each. solids and patterns. from there, larger and smaller pieces. then brights and neutrals. from there, larger and smaller pieces of each. makes for extra folders, but it's easy to find a decent-sized mat if i need one, or a long strip for a border or such.

good luck! the life of a paper crafter can be quite challenging! ;)

  10. Glad to hear you mom is doing better!

As for organizing, this is really tough isn't it?? Right now, I have my scrapbits by brand name as I don't use very many (in big drawers). I also have a misc brand paper drawer. All my solids are divided by color and go into corrisponding color boxes. It is not the best, but for now it will do. I don't have a lot of money to spend on organizing containers :) Hmmm... I really like Leah's suggestion about big storage bags - may have to check that one out!

    Have fun Kim!

  11. Did you see the bins I use to sort mine by color? It is those drawer type

I have them posted on my blog now. I love this way because I have gotten a bigger drawer system. I just have an idea of what color I am looking for and pick through that drawer. I never cut paper before I check the drawers first. Hope it helps
So glad your mom is resting comfortably at home.

  12. So glad your mom is home and on the mend!! Yay!!!

As for scraps I got a three draw storage thing on wheels at Wal-Mart and I have cardstock in the top drawer, printed papers in the middle drawer, and the third drawer is empty for now. It works great!

  13. I'm so glad that your Mom is doing well. As for your scraps, I'm afraid I don't have any good suggestions. I keep all my scraps in one bin. Not very organized at all.

  14. So glad about your mom. For organizing I found these yellow bins on clearance at Walmart. Some have little dividers inside that I used to organize my embellishments. Just got them last week. I've seen them at several of their stores. They are usually in the office supply aisles.

  15. Glad to hear your mom is home! As for scraps, I keep mine in a large bin. It's piled to the top. Unfortunate for anything on the bottom. I'm too lazy to dig through it. Good luck with organizing yours!

  16. So glad your mom is home. As for the scraps I have no tips to offer. Mine are thrown into a big drawer & when it gets to filled I dump it.

  17. I'm like Debbie .. one big bin. Then I keep a few of the more basic color in a CM folder. That saves on using a new sheet for everything. But I weed out my scraps every so often and think duh, why didn'y I look here first! Glad to get your good mom report!

  18. Kim... I am so happy that your mother is doing better!! Praise the Lord!!

wish I could be more help in the organization area... right now I have 2 big bins of scraps... one for solids, one for patterns!! With my 8 year old helping herself freely to my stuff, this works best for us!! If I had it perfectly organized I would probably come unglued everytime she got into my stuff!!
